More fun from the 80's (and from Spielberg, who executive-produced) with Richard Donner's adventure-comedy tale of a group of young misfits on the hunt for buried treasure. Co-starring a very young Sean Astin (of the "Lord of the Rings" films) and Josh Brolin (of this year's "No Country For Old Men"). Catch it at the Orpheum on July 17 at 7pm.

Imagine The Goonies if it were made today the horror. No cussing, no kids acting like kids at all, no penis jokes about the statuette and no fat jokes. We certainly couldnt see Mouth making heroin and sexual torture jokes to the maid. There'd definitely be no scene of Chunk in a freezer with a stiff. Forget about the dead pirates. In fact Im not sure if theres a single scene in this movie that would be done today. I feel so sorry for kids today. What a boring, lifeless world they are born into.
