no enemy planes have been shot down in any war theatre in the world by an mig 29....  while many mig 29-s have been shot down by other aircrafts. ratio is ~0/25.

@sierra190MK My friend, the Tu-28/Tu-128 was the response to the XB-70, and only 2 B-70's were made, and one blew up during testing. The Tu-28/Tu-128 is a supersonic bomber. The MiG-25 was introduced in full flex in 1970, and the SR-71 in 1966. That is a four year difference. The MiG-25 was designed as a High Altitude interceptor to counter the A-12 and SR-71, and the proposed "YF-12", an interceptor variant of the A-12. The B-70 is absolutely nothing.

Wrong. Despite what you pretend to think, the Mig-25 was the result of the Soviet's attempt to design a jet capable of intercepting a super-sonic bomber; not a super-sonic recon aircraft. After the cancelation of the Valkyrie bomber, the Mig-25 was pitted against the SR-71 only as an afterthought because it was the only > Mach 3 jet in the Soviet arsenal. Please, read up on the history and the development of the XB-70 and Mig-25 before you comment further.

@sierra190MK The MiG-25 was built as a High Speed Interceptor to engage and counter the SR-71, or at the time the Lockheed A-12. It failed to do so. Look it up. The B-70 was canned rather quickly and Russia's response to it was the Tu-28/Tu-128, a supersonic bomber. Nice fact fail there bro.

The Mig-25 was not the U.S.S.R's response to the the SR-71. It was a response to the proposed North America Aviation's B-70 Valkyarie supersonic bomber being devloped by the U.S. during the 1950s-60s.

@perpil1 No, it was a response to the MiG-25. The MiG and Sukhoi Bureau were instructed to make only slight aerodynamic changes to their designs relative to the F-15. In fact, the MiG-25 was a response to the SR-71, and ended up not being a great fighter after all. You could say that the F-14 was a MiG-25 copy if you continued to believe that we copied Russia, but, alas, they were merely responses.
