SLAC Director Emeritus and 2010 Enrico Fermi Award recipient Dr. Burton Richter presents this retrospective of the history of SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, from the lab's inception within the physics community at Stanford University, to becoming the multiprogram laboratory that it is today. Presentation date: May 10, 2012.

Dr. Richter helped pioneer the development of accelerator technologies that have contributed to several Nobel Prizes—including the 1976 Nobel Prize in Physics (shared with Dr. Samuel C.C. Ting) for the discovery of a new kind of heavy elementary particle.
