But it was the mighty Reds and a stroke of tactical mastery from Ferguson that led to Uniteds opener. Bringing on Teddy Sheringham to replace Keane and switching Beckham to a central role. With Sheringham now partnered with Scholes in attack he orchestrated a move that he finished himself by firing through the legs of Harper after only 100 seconds of being on the pitch.
Sherringham turned provider for Uniteds second to secure the cup, a historic Double and paving the way for one of the greatest European nights in living memory and the unique Treble.
