The newly elected Pope suffers a panic attack just as he is due to appear on St Peter's balcony to greet the faithful who have been patiently awaiting the conclave's decision. His advisors, unable to convince him he is the right man for the job, seek help from a renowned psychoanalyst (and atheist). But his fear of the responsibility suddenly thrust upon him is one that he must face on his own.

@crystal9154 as a catholic i am not angry or appalled. i am more so sympathetic to his plight if the holy father could not carry out the duties expected of him. it is such a weight to carry and not everyone can do it. we catholics have much more to be appalled about in the other christian sects that try to paint us as evil and inferior in our belief systems. i have encountered many of these types and it saddens me at the hate they give off. this movie is not attended to be hateful

@crystal9154 It's actually not an insult at all. It's a sympathetic film and doesn't negatively portray anyone. This seems like a case of you criticizing a film without even seeing it. Also I'm afraid to tell you that some Popes have resigned (as much as your capital letters would say otherwise)
Do a google search for Papal resignation and try not to criticism as much without having the required information in future it's an INSULT to ONE BILLION of us!

As a Roman Catholic, I am appalled by this film. I am sorry for the heads up in the movie, but NO POPE, NO POPE has resigned from his position as Pontiff and for this movie to portray such an event is an INSULT to Roman Catholic, all ONE BILLION of us!
