This video shows our PCL (www.pointclouds.org) implementation of the recent SIGGRAPH 2011 demo from Microsoft Research, that shows an OpenNI compatible camera (Kinect in their case, Asus XTionPro in ours) being waived around in a scene, and the scene reconstruction that results as more data gets integrated.

  • Great work! I'm the main developer of ReconstructMe I wonder if both sides could improve their systems by teaming up somehow.

  • What computer hardware are you guys using?? I also made a replicate that runs 2-3 Hz on a laptop with NVidia Quadro 800M...

  • Is there a windows binary for this or do I have to understand a programming language to use the PCL version of fusion to create and save a model/point cloud?

  • The other day I made a 3D model scan of myself using the Kinect by capturing point clouds from various angles (16 in my case) and stitching them all together into one model much like you would do for laser scanning. The software you have shown here takes all the alignment and merging work and makes it automated. Outstanding! I've got to give this a try.
