The Stray Dog Issue - WSPA

The plight of strays is one of the most visible animal welfare issues in the world today. Of the estimated 500 million dogs in the world, approximately 75% are strays. In many countries the majority of stray animals have been abandoned by their owners or are owned but allowed to roam freely. The unsupervised dogs then breed, resulting in unwanted puppies.

WSPA works to provide education about responsible pet ownership: dog identification, vaccination and neutering means fewer animals will end up on the street. Our vision is that all countries will use effective and cruelty free methods of stray population management that address the roots of the problem.

@StrayDogsArePests I have dogs also but it's the irresponsible dog owners that are to blame for letting these dogs loose or abandoning them. Other wise the problem will continue.I personally don't want loose dogs near mine even if the owner is close by for the diseases that may not harm an adult dog but puppies will die from them. strays will continue to face getting killed unless these morons keep them tethered or on leash.

Stray dogs just dont become stray dogs wether you like it or not. humans have abandoned dogs to fend for themselves and its fucking despicable. The dogs attacking people or animals is the mere retaliation towards their right to survive. They are trying to recapture their animal instincts since they cannot depend on anyone else to fend for them. One can only imagine seeing their lost dog becoming a stray on video. hope you dont ever abandon or lose ur pet.

@StrayDogsArePests I definitely think there should be more shelters more neutering and create permanent shelters for unwanted pets. Strays given the chance can become great loyal pets if given the chance. humans bred these animals to be dependent of them and then mistreat them and abandon them when they need us the most... its sad.
