LOVE this SP, probably my fav from Irina. The footwork sequence went perfectly with the music and she skated with such emotion.

@1203456789 Normally, I would agree, but at this competition Michelle's layback was probably the best it had ever been with great arch in the back, interesting arm positions, and a perfect turned out free leg. In this sp, Irina's layback lost a little speed at the end, and had a pretty sloppy exit that traveled quite a bit at the end. This is probably the one and only time I would say Michelle had a superior layback.

@1203456789 Absolutely!!!

wtf?! dick really needs to shut up. her lay back beats the hell out of michelle's

Her combination spin and flying camel were excellent in this program. They were as strong as any of her competitors. Only her layback wasnt that great but neither was Kwan's and many of the others.
-
Yep, let's mark people down simply because you disagree with them. In skating you make COMPARATIVE observations. Her spins were horrible compared to many of her competitors (Nikodinov, Hughes, Kwan, Slutskaya).

Maria's combination spin and flying camel in the short were excellent. Her only not so great spin was her layback.
-
I agree with you. But , silver medal is a great result. I believe that she was aiming to show everyone that she was totally back, and she did so.

Correct. It cost her the gold. Butyrskaya had faults in her other elements, and her winning the short was probably helped by her status as defending world champion. She did a good short, but her spirals and spins are bad. I thought the end results were pretty accurate tho. Maria did have a good program. The new "artistic" Slutskaya was so refreshing to see,e especially in the short program! Very nice Axel and Flip!!!
My favourite programme from Irina, along with Serenade from 2002. Beauty in every movement..
