SMH....reading through these comments I see why we dont get any respect in the community. Im black and I go to college......therefore that makes me a sellout because im not out selling drugs? If being black means i have to sell drugs, be illiterate and and ignorant then im not black. Im making up a new race. Its call being ME.. An individual not bound by stereotypes and prerequisites of experience needed to be black enough. Im a free man...and thats what martin luther king wanted for me.

There is also an age gap. Oprah is older and her outlook on life may be different. Half these rappers wouldn't even date a black woman as dark as Oprah, yet they want her to support them?

I would never call any rapper ignorant no matter what because in their songs (atleast back in the day) they speak about what happened in their lives. Speaking on degrading people lets talk about the movie "just for colored girls" that was the most uncomfotable movie ive seen as a man!

Blacks own 0.001% of American wealth. This is all we get after 400 years of free labor?? All the upper cast of wealthy blacks have sold out to power structure. Oprah sold out point blank... These rappers and actors don't represent the strong conscious Blackmen of America! Most of them worship the Baphomet and are into homosexual behavior

Who selected these puppets to represent the Urban Community? Rap is Universal now and it contributes to the niggerizing of ALL AMERICA! Remember White outh buy more rap than any other demographic. I could care less about Oprah or any of those sellouts.

Dude, 'were your from' is more than a physical place.Oprah sees in the mirror everyday WHAT/WHO she is; she just defines what it MEANS 2 BE 'black' in a different way. Hell, most 'hood blacks' when they get money will buy jewelry, fancy clothes or 'spinning' rims; Oprah has used her riches to better the lives of other people, of ALL races. How is she "selling out" by doing better for herself? Because she doesn't agree with ONE ASPECT of 'black' culture (music), that DOESN'T make her 'less black'

You remind me of some of the kids i used to teach. Seeing an educated male of color who had almost none of the usual negative stereotypes or connotations associated with his background was a shock to them, but it made a few of my boys proud that there were 'other ways to be black' or 'of another race'. And a lOT of them were worried about becoming a statistic in one way or another.
