Alpine Village in Torrance, CA at the Oktoberfest. My mother was asked to dance. This dirndl dress was made for her in Austria when she was 24. She is now 85 and can still wear it. She brought it with us through 3 countries until we came to the USA. At the end of the dance they make a 'Fensterl' (window) with their arm and look at one another through it. Mom learned this dance as a young girl. It was so lovely to watch her dance..the years just fell away from her and she was young again.

  • That is one of the greatest things I've seen in a long time! Mom (if I am allowed)... you are beautiful and so very inspiring to all us middle age folks who are starting to feel old! ATTA GIRL! Now I know where your daughter, granddaughter and grandkids get all of their outer and inner beauty from! Bless you!

  • Fantastic!

  • Momma, you are a special lady and a great dancer. Ilona, you are lucky to have such an active Mom at 85. We will expect the same from you.

  • Ilona, your mom is an inspiration to us all. I loved watching her dance. She is beautiful.

  • How totally cool! Heck, I can't even dance like that now! Thanks for sharing!

  • ilona your Mom is amazing for 85! Looks like she had lots of fun today. Was it her Birthday or something? If it was tell her Happy Birthday from me.

She is still a very attractive lady and can imagine she was really a knockout at 24 when she got that dress and danced.

I can't imagine still being around at 85....much less have that much grace and energy at that age. LOL

  • OMA! You're beautiful. I'm proud to be your "good" daughter. :-)
