  • @tapper45 the head can slip out, neck cannot. Neck is also closer to the person's center, which is what you want to actually control

  • @Roallen15

    good notes.

getting put on your ass saps your strength because you have to get back up.

it also slows your momentum and can be the turning point against you in the fight.

  • @tapper45 an additional point to add to the video would be that rolling them the other way sharply (away from the knee'ing leg) causes a greater loss of balance allowing you to throw powerful counter knees, and/or you can score a throw from it (and to other reader - yes technical clinch throws should score lightly under thai rules but getting put on your ass is very demoralising for the opponent) to be effective in defending with your technique you need to have perfect timing or you will get hit

  • if you've read the other comments about "not holding the neck" pay attention.

WE are the ones who know what we're talking about.

the neck is the BASE of what you're trying to control.

the BASE is stronger and more difficult to control.

the end of the limb (the head) is more suceptible to leverage and as such, easier to control.

ask yourself this: when you want to knee the head, do you pull down on the neck, or on the head?

    and why?

its easier to get the head in position by pulling it.

  • @KeroroGunsouTX hhhhhaahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahah

  • expert village tutorials... incorrect and incomplete techniques, it should be back of the head, u get more control of the person

  • @KeroroGunsouTX

I also thought that xD lol!

  • @Keroro i swear i thought the same as i looked it first time....

  • @FUSSYMUAYTHAI I acrtually agree with you.A number of people who deride this technique don't seem to grasp that it's done by someone with legitimate seasoning, skill, and experience. It's not the first method always used toteach beginners defenses against knees and it's not THE ONLY method.I've seen it more commonly used IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER DEFENSES.

  • @260191894 I entirely agree.Ultimately it's about hit (and escape if possible or best depending on the circumstances) with whatever will get the job done, and NOT GET HIT BACK.
