The Seymour Duncan P-rails have a unique design that lets you select either a P90 style pickup, a rail style single coil, or a humbucker. I wired mine so I could get the humbuckers in series or parallel (a sound more like vintage PAFs - less output and less bass). See my next video for the other mods I've done to the circuit.
Here are some diagrams (Thanks to Hermetico at the SD forums!) to help you figure out the wiring:

Guitar: 2000 Les Paul Special
Amp: 1979 Fender Champ

For all you who don't like reading past comments: My tuning is open G (D bass) DGDGBD

  • fucking sweet playing dude,

  • @stone0194 @ronb1191 Thanks for the nice words! I listen to a lot of lap steel players, Don Helms, Jerry Byrd, all of Bob Wills' players...

  • Wow - 42,000 views! Thanks everybody! I just added some links to diagrams in the video details so you don't have to go hunting around the web for this info

  • @mjt11860: It's open G (D bass) DGDGBD - @SayNOtoFluorideLEGIT: no mods on the Fender Champ. Old Stock Sylvania power tube, JJ preamp tubes. I think the pots on this guitar are all 500k, the amp's pots are stock.

  • Since I did it myself it was only the cost of switches and wire

  • Buy It Now is no longer available after the first bid. Bidding is open and the guitar will now go to the highest bidder. Auction ends Sunday July 4th. Good luck!

  • @lyongraulty Do you play in a band, I really enjoy your slide work, your a hell of a player! Shoot me a personal message man!

  • Can you please demo how to play those slide riffs? The demo was great, but the playing is beautiful. Thanks.

  • @lyongraulty all these views are absolutely deserved! You play very well, and the sounds are good.

  • This is about the best demo I've ever seen to demo pickups. You're playing is great. The sound quality is clear and understandable. The camera clearly shows your every move as you switch between settings. Thanks for such a great demo. Duncan should use this on their website and ever other person doing a demo on YouTube should learn from your video!!!
