Jon-Erik Hexum: West 57th Interview

26-year-old actor Jon-Erik Hexum died on October 18, 1984, nearly a week after accidentally shooting himself with a blank gun on the set of his CBS series, Cover Up. But thanks to his generosity in life and that of his family, his tragic story had a positive impact on the lives of many others, in the form of organ donations. The 80's newsmagazine, West 57th, interviews Michael Washington, the man who received his heart in this August 1985 edition. Washington himself passed away on December 14, 2002.

This is an old dub probably made on the fly by a fan who got the tape into the VCR at the last possible moment -- however, despite that and the fact that they erroneously reported that the accident occurred on October 11, it does put a face on the people who were affected by this tragedy, and how it went on to create hope for others.

Sad, sad, sad, but an important part in Jon's history. That dive in the pool floored me, lol. I hope he didn't choke! Somebody stop that guy, he's littering! HAHA. Yes, visiting Gunnar's Runes cafe was a very pleasant experience, friendly staff, good food/coffee and decent prices. I would say a tad rustic,polished and refined..I'm trying to find good synonyms here. A lot of wood...and a piano :) A great place to visit if you happen to be in Taunton.

I was only 9 years old when I learned of his passing on the radio--in my mom's car of all places--in Queens, NY. I didn't even know he was on Cover Up at the time. The following spring, I remember being mesmerized at the sight of Antony Hamilton being on the front cover of TV Guide (To me he was as hot as Jack!) but didn't know that he had replaced him as the lead on CU. I had a crush on Jack going back to when he was on Voaygers! and couldn't believe the news.

yes i remember when this was on, a few months after jon eriks passing. very sad to watch, brings back all the sadness.

jon erik did look a lot like his brother.since than i heard michael washington the man who recieved jon eriks heart died. that was around 2003.

How the Mr. Gunnar Hexum look a like now? If Jon erik still a live he maybe 52 old now. His voice same like as Jon Erik and Gunnar was also a cute guy when i saw in this video.

I really enjoyed the show Voyagers. I loved adventures in time travel. It is tragic how he died. His brother sounds just like him.

What I heard, he didn't drink, do drugs, and occasionally smoked. He looked like a healthy guy!
