I don't understand while people say this is the best sonic game, sure its a platformers treat but I hate how the past and future signs punish you so much.

See, getting all Time Stones before Quartz Quadrant Act 2 is the best way of doing things. The REMAKE of this game has an ACHIEVEMENT where you must get ALL Generators AND Holograms. ...Getting all 7 Time Stones WILL affect this achievement; you must get the 7th at Metallic Madness Act 2. Note that holograms end at Stardust Speedway, due to the race.

What happens if you only get the Metal Sonic Holograms? Do you have to get all Metal Sonic holograms, or can you just get the generators? I only gotten through the game with all seven Time Stones and only generators on my PC, using an emulator, and game saves. But I recently got it on my Sega CDX, and cannot achive getting all seven Time Stones.

@evantron3000 Destroying all of the Metal Sonic Holograms doesn't affect your ending. It merely makes animals appear on the stage. Only destroying all of the robot generators or collecting all of the Time Stones affects your ending.
