@MrKingRoyale Not really, you can solve the cube intuitively.
Now, if you want to speedcube, you can either:
1) Spend years developing algorithms and techniques so they are efficient and fast or...
2) Start using all the techniques and algorithms already developed and save yourself a lot of time.
Like any sport, science or hobbies, is a waste of time to reinvent everything when you have access to the latest developments and continue from there.

At first i thought that the rubiks cube would actually make you think. But I found out that you memorize a bunch of shit. This requires nothing but memorization.

@HERETICAL WRONG. if you knew anything about cubing, you would see him doing the F2L, OLL and PLL. I can even tell you the alg he used for OLL. clearly not fake.
