Caroline, youre mixing different versions of pokemon. In fire red, you can choose three names. I chose Gary. However, Blue is not one of the three choices. blue is the name of your character in the original pokemon blue

Pokemon blue is English version of green so the Japanese thought they should bring blue back under its Japanese name.
