  • been there timps- nbd

  • wow, 'superbos' perfect!

  • @LifeforArt This is actually supposed to have a rather fast tempo. I know at times it seems a bit much, but that is what makes the technicality of the piece so difficult. It's not an easy piece to sing. But I can understand where you're coming from, it sounded a bit too fast for me as well when I first started singing it with my choir

  • @LifeforArt

I don´t agree. Koopman has a very personal way to interpret Bach, most of all regarding time... Nevertheless, imho, I don´t think his fast timing steals something to expression. Try to listen his Goldbergs (v=kvgc3ZKGCds): the first variation almost disgusted me the first time I heard it but if you keep listening it you could get to the conclusion (as I did) that this is the (only?) way it should be played (i.e. very phlilogically).

One thing is sure: sometimes Ton is out :)))

  • @LifeforArt You shouldn't, because the Harnoncourt is the Magnificat in D, from 1731, and this is the Magnificat in E-flat, a previous version, of 1723. Notice the chang of key.

  • Too fast! No place and time for expression to building up the power in this piece. Koopmann is sometime a bit out of himself, sry. Watch and hear Harnoncourts Version and compare.

  • excellent Tom Koopman a fine baroque director

  • @DiVeronica koopman ?
