search "DYI Merlin", this guy created a cheap dyi merlin that is alot more effective than this. sorry. But this is based on the pilot. The pilot is amazingly steady. this is just averagely steady.

the merlin has no z-axis stabilization. this is a completely different design

That's some heavy artillery man, I gotta admit I've seen these Merlin videos and I've been getting comparable results using my $38 Cam Caddie. I've captured some amazingly smooth shots with the Cam Caddie.

Looks like it works pretty well, but the sled itself isn't balanced correctly.  Too much swaying. Other than that it didn't seem to bounce up and down too much as you moved around. Are there any adjustments as far as weight goes or was it based on the weight of your particular camera?
