A number of recordings like Jimmy Preston's "Rock The Joint," Jimmy Smith's "Rock That Boogie," and Roy Brown's "Boogie At Midnight" (which can all be heard on youtube) were made before Dec. '49 -- before any rock and roll recordings by Fats Domino, Bill Haley, Little Richard, Louis Prima, etc., and five whole years before Elvis or Chuck Berry recorded.
