  • Che bravo Simone Alberghini, che voce intensa, piena, ricca di colore e di gusto.

  • The production is from the great Sir Peter Hall who frequently worked in opera during the 70's, 80's and through into the early millennium. It's fantastic to see opera houses at least attempt traditional productions and producers respect the score and libretto. Much more refreshing than the "intelligent" interpretations commonly seen on the major stages.

  • The Don Magnifico worries me, though.

  • This is the first Cenerentola I've seen which is set in the correct historical period (c. 1816). The sets and costumes are like a Masterpiece Theatre Jane Austen adaptation! Alberghini is very well suited to the role of Dandini, even though the coloratura is not quite there.

  • This production looks oh-so-Glyndebourne...leave it to them to try and make Cenerentola look "real" and historically accurate! :) I saw Alberghini in the slightly more bogus-looking Met broadcast, and he took a while to grow on me (I think the coloratura in his entrance number made him nervous), but he ultimately did!
