Snickers Halloween Grocery Store Commercial

Just in time for Halloween, Snickers has debuted a new commercial described by some as terrifying and creepy and others as "oddly hilarious."  The commercial, which began airing in late-September, features a woman named Mrs. Jensen grocery shopping near the candy aisle.  Suddenly, she is approached by a very tall, masked, older "woman" wearing a long, over-sized coat.  The masked woman informs Mrs. Jensen (yes, she knows her name) that she doesn't have enough Snickers candy bars in her shopping cart, explaining in a falsetto voice that "the neighborhood kids love Snickers on Halloween."  The giant woman then caresses a startled-looking Mrs. Jensen's face, saying "Let me help you."  The old woman then proceeds to rake several bags of Snickers candy bars into Mrs. Jensen's cart.

A bewildered-looking Mrs. Jensen then makes a move to get away from the strange woman who is dumping bag after bag of Snickers candy bars into her shopping cart, but the woman stops her, saying "I'm only helping..." and muttering "Snickers." As a startled Mrs. Jensen finally breaks free and races up the candy aisle to get away from the "creepy" tall woman, viewers see a child's face peek out from the woman's leopard-print coat.  The child looks up, saying "We're definitely going to her house."

As the commercial ends, an image of a Halloween bowl filled with Snickers candy bars appears.  The narrator says, "This Halloween, nothing satisfies like Snickers."

According to the ''New York Times'' consumers who might have gone all out on Halloween candy, costumes and/or decorations in years past might not this year, given the economic situation, and companies are fighting for every dollar.  Creepy or hilarious, Snickers' new Halloween candy commercial is certainly being talked about - whether it'll inspire the masses to stock up on the candy bars this Halloween remains to be seen.
