  • why did you pursue teaching sex education, are you driven by dirty thoughts ? but whatever this is your life, who am i to make comments about it

  • @mollykjody That's an interesting question because I'm not sure in what way you are asking it. Is it a comedic question, simple curiosity, one with a bit of judgment or disapproval, or something else?

The serious answer is that I believe sexual health education is an important part of developing a healthy person who has access to accurate information and knowledge which empowers them to make their own decisions. It's not just about the physical act of sex, it's much larger than that.

  • @onepov HMM okay, not really with disapproval or judgment. it is nice to empower yourself i guess. i do that kind of stuff with youth politics. UH, for me it is more of curiosity, the truth of the matter is, i was a sexual harassment & sexual assault victim, & have a long history of sexual trauma, so i always feel suspicion/ uncomfortableness around it. i saw 6 years of long term counseling.

  • @mollykjody I'm sorry to hear of your past experiences. Your feelings are completely valid and I can understand why you might feel concerns around this topic. I think you bring up a situation that actually shows how important it is to have access to comprehensive sexual health eduction. By "comprehensive" I mean talking about all things: communication, consent, negotiating boundaries, understanding ones values, emotions, and lastly if becoming sexually active, ways to reduce any health risks.

  • @mollykjody Much like how we educate youth about politics. If we don't talk about all sides of a political policy or debate, how can one make an informed decision for themselves?

To me, it's best to confront issues and not shy away from it because of the fear or awkwardness (which is common for topics such as sex) that we all can experience from time to time. Without that discussion, we would only learn from experience. And sometimes that experience sucks and stays with us for a long time.

  • @mollykjody So again, I want to thank you for being so open about your situation. I'm glad you liked the video. :-)
