This version of DD2 leaves a lot to be desired. While the graphics are greatly improved over the EGA DD1 for DOS, the PC was capable of so much more. There's no music, the sound effects are basic, and the difficulty is incredible! The enemies stick to you like glue, while you struggle with your one fire button to pull off a move in time, only to have it ducked or countered...

But if you can get to the shovel, you can clean house! This video shows me at my rusty worst. Back in the day I would run out of lives on Mission 3. There are no continues.

Appears to be a downgrade of the Amiga version.

  • Phew, I thought I was the only one that thought this was impossibly difficult. I was five or six when I mastered the first one on dos and this was just incredibly frustrating. There was some boss that picks you up by your hair that I could never beat and he was the first or second boss.

  • @matedog2 first, and yeah even if you had another player you couldn't save your friend by attacking him!

  • I had this game a long time ago, and it sure was pure crap to say the least! Other than the graphics, and new cutscenes, there was really nothing good about it, and the sound, and gameplay was just awful. However, I did discover a code which sped up (and improved) the gameplay, and gave you five credits also, though I never had any idea of what it actually was, as I would enter it by pounding on the keys on the keyboard.

  • @freakyfornash bummer about the code... I found a "hex edit" hack that was supposed to give you infinite credits... but it turned out to be for the first DD pc game, and it didn't even work for that one either... :(

  • Billy's not even moving!

  • @MDthornton83 That's because I didn't really have a second player, I just spawned him in and nudged him occasionally... to show first timers what both players looked like

  • graphics are great. all else is lacking

  • the first one on pc is much better. dd2 is almost unplayable.

  • Now i see the reason why they made Jimmy blonde in the sequels, lol

  • @Carbon657

The Amiga 500 was better for gaming than any PC in the 80s

  • The best part about this game is the sound.

  • I used to own the Amiga version and i downloaded this DOS version because i though it would be either the same or probably better. I was wrong this version is no where near as good as the Amiga one, crap sound, smaller playing screen and terrible gameplay which makes it almost impossible to reach the third level let alone complete the whole game.

  • I see.
