You need the Douay Rheims which has the text approved by the canons of Trent. THe RSV-CE and the NAB don't have the canonical Ecclesiasticus - a reason not to use them.

In my (St Joseph's version) of the NAB the book of Ecclesiasticus is called Sirach. If you open up to the first page of the book it says Ecclesiasticus under "The Book of Sirach" ...BUT...I have done some brief research and this verse is not included in many bibles...(DRV is the only one I was able to find it in). I fully affirm the Catholic Doctrine of Mary, but I am hesitant simply because this verse does not appear often...even in contemporary Catholic bibles.

Dr Mashall...Please tell us what version/Bible translation you are using. In neither of my Catholic Bibles ( NAB:RSV) do these words, or anything closely resembling them, appears in Sirach ( Ecclesiasticus) appears. Chapter 24 is sub-titled Praise of Wisdom.

It is called the book of Sirach, verse 24 is normally in the footnotes.
