  • okay, so let me get this right. you remove 20% of the water, add drOps (HOW MANY?) and then put more water in? i ask how many bc we have the same tank size. you can see my tank and my bichir on my page. do you leave your fish in the tank the whole time while you do it? i tell you, once the bichir and cichlis get big it becomes very hard to get them out of their tanks. you must get a big net to get them out bc theyre fiesty. if you use your hands the bichir will swirm out of them every time.....

  • @coconutfever123 yea 20% and add how ever many ml of it that is on the directions. mine is like 5ml per 10 gallons. just buy a decent sized bottle and read the directions so you tank dont get messed up. get a siphon to clean your gravel too. leave all the fish in there and take out your decorations and turn off ur filter and heater so you dont die. NEVER take ur fish outa the tank if there that big. they will be fine just dont mess with them.

  • @zach62795 hey thanks man...youve been very helpful. i knew there must be an easier way to clean the tank but i just didnt know if you needed to add extra drops or not and i didnt want to risk killing or hurting my fish so i just removed them. also, when i do complete water changes i fill it up and put new drops in and then after about 12-24 hours i put the fish in. my cichlid adjusts straight away but the bichir always has a problem breathing for about half a day. do you ever have this problem?

  • @coconutfever123 I never take out any of the fish bc I don't do full water changes. Honestly I don't think full water changes are needed or safe for the fish. Just every week I two 5 gal buckets of water out then refill. And i dont see my bichir go up for air often so maybe yours isnin shock because of a temp change or theres something wrong with the water. Where do u put the fish when they are taken out?

  • nice tank. your bichir is so cute. when u do water changes do you have to add more neutralizer solution drops (or whatever its called)?

  • @coconutfever123 yea i use a dechlorinator with aloe to help its fin and aquarium salt. the bichir is pretty cool

  • You can't have pufferfish in there. They are saltwater and will eat your fish's fins.
