@MrChrisHermes - the way I see it, THESE are the women that are oppressed. Muslim men are taught to treat Muslim women like treasures. You dont leave your expensive jewelery and money out in the open, do you? Or do you hide it (cover it)? Yet dont think ONCE to cover your women. You dont leave your food out in the open to rot, do you? Yet you dont think to preserve the modesty and purity of a woman. I dont mean men dont require this "protection", but we are considered more valuable than them.

@MrChrisHermes - Women in Western countries freely show their body. Advertisements display half-naked, sexy women to sell their products (thus, women are USED for business purposes). Women are judged according to their appearance, and little girls are conditioned from childhood to feel self-conscious and grow up to have body-image issues. Women spend thousands of dollars trying to be fashionable and look good (again, women are USED for business purposes). Muslim women are free from ALL of that.

@MrChrisHermes - Muslim women cover because:

1) God told us to (so we obey, though not blindly of course).

2) When I wear the Hijab and go outside, people know right away that I am a Muslim. I take pride in letting people know my identity. I represent Islam! (and that is quite an honor bestowed upon women you accuse of being "oppressed").

2) Self-respect. My body is nobody's business but my own. NO ONE has the right to tell me whether I should be fat, skinny, dark/light skinned, curvy, etc.

@MrChrisHermes - What Muslim MEN are you referring to?? I chose to wear the Hijab when I was 10 years old (I'm 20 now), and no MAN had ANYTHING to do with my choice! Every educated Muslim man I know has the utmost respect for Muslim women, and the ones that dont are clearly uneducated. There are both GOOD Muslim men (and women) and bad Muslim men/women (just like Christians, Hindus, Jews, Atheists, etc). You need to get your head out of the gutter and SEE the GOOD people...not the bad people.
