Metal has NOTHING to do with goth. goth is firstly and foremost a subculture based off the gothic genre of music, which derives from post-punk. i Evenesance s not goth, nor is cannibal corpse or any other metal. If you're going to make an informative video, perhaps you should educate yourself first.

I'd say anyone holding the darker, misplaced emotions which overtake you when everyone else is having "fun," while you suddenly go melancholy, is Goth defined. Those who feel most alone and misunderstood among even those who (think they) know you, are Goth in the greatest respect. Goth certainly transcends all of the black fashion statements, and is more a black emotional state, in my opinion. The clothes are there only to reflect the emotion, not the other way around.

@thegothicgirl14 because of silly things like that, i am trying to write a book about this normal girl that is a bit on the preppy side that learns that this goth guy really is very nice and that he is fun to be hang out with and she learns that he is not violent at all. i however am not goth but i do have a gothic friend. all my other friends think she is crazy but i like the way she thinks. goths make really good friends!

The musical gothic movement did in fact start after punk rock, so i understand what time line you are refering to. I just feel that it is neccessary to be as thorough as possible when educating people, especially on something as important as subcultures and or lifestyles :] much respect and love

Hey hon :] i respect that you would go through the trouble to post this on the internet however i just have to say that the gothic movement started well before the 80's, about 400 years ago in fact. Started as an artistic movement incolving architecture, literature, and art.

no hun. newer bands include bloody dead and sexy, all gone dead, audra, and children on stun.

evanescence and within temptation are not goth. they are hard rock and metal, which is good but not goth. also being a part of it does not change your way of thinking. or at least it shouldnt. you are who you are. its good to be open minded but not to live a stereotype.
