Because obesity and diet related diseases are growing at alarming rates, America is facing public HEALTH CRISIS of gigantic proportion. What used to be "ADULT" diseases are now showing up in our children! The Food Conglomerates is Keeping America Fat on Purpose and The Government Is letting it happen! These children are condemned to an earlier DEATH. What are you doing about it to prevent that from happening?

  • I disagree with the abundance. It is WAY too much corn and soy.

  • The general argument is right on, excellent, but the specific policy mechanism is almost totally false. Subsidies correlate but don't cause it, don't cause oversupply. Lacking "price responsiveness, grains went down in price since 1952 caused by reducing price floors & supply management (& ended 1996). Subsidies quiet angry farmers. Subsidies: corn 1961+, rice 77+, soybeans 96+. So yes policy did this, but not subsidies. Changing subsidies leaves the whole problem. "Farm Bill Primer" "zspace"

  • Very nice Peter Jennings. That is NEWS. Not lied, etc. Factual real news. As a personal trainer and health advisor, I can only say, it really does start with parents. However, as mentioned, stopping the advertising from your kids seeing slogans to identify the TRIX bunny for example, is a big issue.

I strongly advise anyone shopping for food to skip the entire middle section of the store and buy foods from the outside perimeter. :) Junk foods are always in the middle isles.

  • so, a salad costs $5 and you only have $1 to spend. where are u gonna find a salad on the dollar menu? is it your fault when your hungry and that's all you can afford? you must be blind! nobody in america wants to be fat, yet it's happening.

  • I think that everyone is responsible for what they are eating, even if today's lifestyle bombards us with publicity about junk food, at the end the choice to eat it or not is in our hands. In any case I think that everyone is able to balance their food between junk food and healthy food. Eating a donut or a brownie twice a week is not bad if we also eat the nutrients our body needs.
