the flood alarm is scary,
i was on a college trip in febuary and there was a flood warning.
-
Apparently so. Big rescue mission for the engineers to solve.
-
is venice really sinking?
-
It looks very dangerous in sections! Good to see you survived!

I went to Venice thirty years ago. It is a very exciting city and I loved it. I was amazed that the grocery store was open and that they were sitting at a sidewalk cafe.

Ellen, a friend made a similar comment marvelling at how even in knee to waist deep water it's 'business as usual', and at the 1:06 mark one of the two ladies emailed me to say it's her and her friend in the video! Apparently further along to where they were headed they almost came to grief as the entrance to the train station they were looking for was completely submerged and they almost fell in.

I was in Venice in October last year, so to think this was just two months after is weird! I've been to Venice twice now and had (rather sickly) hoped to see an Aqua Alta, but to no avail. I really wish they could solve this problem and preserve this unique city! I mean, c'mon, if the Dutch can keep their whole country from flooding, surely the Italians can preserve Venice?

"Good fun though!"? Holy hell, many of those shop owners are losing everything. Has to be a solution.
