To be honest.. i do not consider Geesink a great judoka. Yes, he was a great champion, yes, he was a pioneer in many ways and yes, he has done a lot for the sport and he certainly deserved the respect he earned in Japan.
But technically speaking he was a wrestler, and a crude one at that. Wim Ruska, Jon Bluming or Chris Dolman could have crushed him any day, pretty sure of that.

One of the three greats of Dutch judo: Wim Ruska, Chris Dolman, Mark Huizinga.. and probably the best of the three. What a champ. Respect Mark!
