Trailer for the "Another Night at the Agora", a feature documentary on the South Florida music scene from the 1970's and 1980's. Includes the reunion of The Kids with Bruce Witkin, Joey Malone, Beano, and Johnny Depp.
In the late seventies and early eighties, South Florida boasted one of the most explosive original rock scenes in the country. It was a time when Rock music was reinventing itself to appeal to a younger, more discriminating audience. New Wave, Punk and other experimental genres were finding a ready audience, and were changing the shape of Rock music forever. And yet, South Florida's prominence in the underground scene remains one of the area's best kept secrets.
Bands that included Z-Cars, The Kids, Critical Mass, Charley Pickett, The Cichlids, Slyder, Tight Squeeze and others filled up dozens of local rock venues to the delight of fans. It was an incubator from which some of the biggest names in music and entertainment emerged.
For the very first time, these spectacular bands reunite in honor of Sheila Witkin, a major figure in the evolution and success of South Florida's music scene.

We had an Agora in Cleveland Ohio and in Columbus Ohio. I saw many bands in the 70's at both.

You also forgot The Pistons~....
The Front !and all of these were my very Favs! Thanks for bringing Back Miamik~
Even though I still live in Miami...
It will never be the same~after the 80's~
Mostly tough I think the Front really influenced me~there was never a band with the Mind set such s them, the origional way~they wrote only origional music and never did copys..only led to the blowing of the Mind!!!

Oh that hot bed of rock and roll South Florida! I will be there in few weeks and expect to walk into a bar and have the singer of a band doing a Foreigner cover tune yell "Let me see you put your hands together!..." The Cichlids were totally great. They should get a web site so they can tell their story and sell some CDs.
