Here I am demonstrating the iPhone 4 antennagate problem. I show it go from 5 bars down to no signal (Searching...) in seconds. The grip seen in the video is the natural way I hold a phone when web surfing or playing a game. I am not squeezing hard or anything, just comfortably holding it in my hand. I have used that grip since the original iPhone and have never had this problem before. Now I catch myself using the phone and looking at the status bar and seeing No Service.
I have to try to figure out how best to adapt to the iPhone 4 instead of the other way around.
I have one of Apple's free bumpers on order, but it will take weeks to get here and the local Apple store was out. I am temporarily using a rubber case, obviously not shown in this video. I had it but almost never used it for my 3GS, so it's on the iPhone 4.
I have not used a case for any iPhone up until this point as I am very careful. I have a windshield holder in the car but that's it. The windshield holder will not hold the iPhone with ANY case whatsoever, which is partly why I have never used cases.
Recorded on a 3GS.
@segers909 How would a screen protector fix the antenna bridge that is on the bottom left side of the phone? I don't really want a case because then you are constantly taking it off to put the phone in docks or windshield mounts. The phone should just *work* without all these problems. I still own a 2G, 3G, and 3GS. None of them drop to "Searching..." when you hold them.
As noted in the description, I'm waiting for the free Apple bumper.

Why don't you use a screenprotector? It will resolve the antenna-issue, and it won't add any bulk to your iPhone :)
