gibson les paul, elmwood modena m90 2x KT88 amp, celestion v30 speaker. tiny crappy camera mic of course renders all this cool stuff sounding like a pile of trash. confidentially this is just something to put up to embarrass me into using real microphones the next time i do a gear demo.

  • the vintage 30 is rated somewhere around 70 watts. and 2xKT88 push 90 watts if you are lucky.. angry is right, that amp wasnt even breathing hard when i did this embarrasingly bad demo :)

  • @creation23 He's using a crappy camera microphone. There is no way you'd be daft enough to play it loud enough to even come close to damaging the speaker when it's the camera that will distort before the speaker.

    It's a pretty common and understandable misconception that using a lower rated speaker than the amp will damage the speaker. Driving a speaker hard is part of the fun. As long as you don't use really low or really high frequencies (or play the amp loud) I think it should be fine.

  • 90Watts into a 60Watt cab? :s
