While hiking with Jess and Becky, we came across a desert tortoise. This is the second one we've seen in this same wash. We saw the last one about a year ago.

  • Not only did they pick it up but their dog is also scaring it to death!! Stupid people! Arizona has laws just like any other place. And one of them is you are NOT supposed to bother the desert tortoise. Hasn't your mother ever told you look, but don't touch? These are the type of tourists who go to other countries and act stupid and give Americans the reputation of ignorance and disrespect!

  • Kill them!! KILL THEM!!!! Come my brothers and sisters of righteousness and knowledge - slay the infidels!!!

Hmmm... Some might not have read the entire book of law in Arizona as you must have. Lead us mistake free one.

I would suggest it is possible to be less vitriolic and more educational in your comments.

You are the kind of person who gives mostly anonymous commenters the reputation of being shrill and asinine self-righteous snobs.

LOL!! You booger! Loosen that size 46 waist!! Breathe..

  • Your reply gives most posters on youtube the reputation of stupidity and lack of having a life and the misled assumption that anyone really wants to see their lame videos. If you are going to be stupid enough to post your lame videos then you should be prepared for the consequences. Including getting comments about how stupid and ignorant you are.

And you really called me a "booger"??

There's the proof of immaturity and ignorance.

  • *thumb in each ear, hands open like moose antlers, fingers wagging*

    neenure neenure neenure...

Apparently mature enough to bring you back.. Thank you for finding the conversation enough to your liking to post 4 separate comments. You have acquiesced some of your life to my stupid videos - and that is its own reward.

Some might find the term "retard" offensive to those who truly struggle with that situation. Whereas boogers have no feelings to hurt... Wait, maybe they do...

  • its illegal to harass a desert tortoise. If you make them pee they could lose their water supply for up to a year and most likely die. Please have some respect for this endangered species.

  • Thedarkdinosaur - thanks. Your comment was the first we heard about this. Since then, we've come across a few other tortoises in the wash above our home.

We've passed your information on to other hikers around there as well. I talked to a herpetologist and also found out that Gila Monsters must not be touched or removed from their locale. So we photograph both and leave them.

    Knowledge.. pass it on! Thanks.

  • You should not pick up a wild tortoise. They store water in their bladder and when scared as a defense mechanism the will release it as a distraction. This leaves the tortoise with out his reserve and in the middle of summer, it may die of dehydration. I have done enough reading on this topic to tell you it is not illegal to pick up a wild tortoise, it is illegal to remove it from its habitat and it is illegal to release a domesticated tortoise into the wild. It is frowned upon but not illegal.

  • Next time you come across one, leave it alone!

  • He's doing that because your malesting him. They hide to protect there inner body. Trust me he thinks your aliens with robotron crap so he scared. Plus you never flip a tortoise upside down.

  • wow - well aren't you the enlightened person.

    lol

yet, you still call people boogers.

    lmao!!!!

  • Hi Retard in AZ-

First of all, I do not have a size 46 waist - it is actually 24 inches. Second, if you are going to live somewhere then you should educate yourself. And it is not my job to educate you. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Your video is enough evidence to prosecute you.

  • Gila monsters are also listed on the endangered species list, though not at threatened status like the desert tortoise is. A good reason to not handle Gila Monsters is that they are venomous, when they bite they are incredibly difficult to get off and they gnaw on you, the more they gnaw the more venom gets into your wound. However, its good to take pictures from a distance, especially since Gila Monsters spend up to 80% of their lifetimes underground. I dont see many out and about.
