An eastbound train (car #586) arrives into the Union Station Red Line station from North Hollywood. The engineer-driver stopped at the platform entrance and honks the horn, for a reason I don't know of. Knew the Red Line had horns, just not so BNSF sounding!

  • How safe would you say it is to take the Red and Blue lines in LA for a tourist who doesn't know the local area?

  • It is fairly "safe" (e.g. crime-wise). The layout is fairly straight forward as far as ticketing and transfers go, however, I don't know where they serve that you would want to go.

  • Why did that train take so long just to pull into the platform?

  • Well, I don't know why he stopped and honked, but I know that they have a speed restriction approaching Union Station.

  • 1:26 "This train is out of service, please exit the train at the last stop.

  • @LosAngelesMetroRail That is actually wrong. Yes the have a speed restriction, but usuage of the horns were disallowed due to them being too disruptive (loud) so this is probably due to someone walking on the edge or over the black and yellow safety lines.

  • @murjax

the Brighton line platform is used by two lines, look at any southbound train of B/Q and you'll see what I mean.

  • @YouAreABunghole Atlantic Ave is used by 6 different routes. Are you suggesting that this occurs due to traffic with the other trains on that line?

  • @murjax

if you've been to brooklyn or more specifically, Atlantic Ave. on the B/Q platform, you'll know.

  • @svartmetall48

just dont take the blue line past the 105 freeway

  • Noho to Union~

"The next stop is Universal City Station."

    *5second pause*

    accelerates to hypersonic.

  • @trainsounds they have the same GE motors/purpulsion systems

  • The reason why the train traveled at a low speed is due to the fact that the train was arriving at Union Station, the terminus for both the Metro Red Line and the Metro Purple Line. The horn heard at the beginning of the video was more than likely used to alert passengers at the next station that a train will soon be arriving. The latter train in the video that came from the opposite direction of the first train was due to the fact that it was comming from the at-grade railyard just past Union

  • @likitty20 I think since it was the first station on the line, it needed to do that? IDK
