"PAGE 2" BY ANDY PLESSER DEBUTS TO GLOBAL AUDIENCE ON THE WEB
A short subject film about adolescent hope and despair, love and alienation shot in Great Neck in 1969 has debuted on the Internet.
"Page 2," written and directed by Andy Plesser, a 1970 graduate of Great Neck North, is a 10 minute short film acted by high school juniors with music composed and recorded by musicians in Plesser's class.
The film was shot entirely in Great Neck and edited in New York City at the Young Filmmaker's Foundation. "Page 2" was widely distributed in the early 70's to child guidance professionals around the nation. The film's look at alienation, hope and drugs was used to foster dialogue
This is a home movie for me, also with my 8ml movie camera, trippin around with Brody, spiegleman, mogul and almus, smoking down steppingstone, diggin bill Evans, the bailins, Joey Berger, Peter Newburger, rosengarden, rundgren, John siegler, steve spiegle, traffic, blues project, Bloomfield, Ezra swerdlow, hangin at the poster shop near the annex, ye town trading post, la tosca, grace ave park, allenwood, and strange white powders in back of the auditorium...

That's my hometown, definitely Great Neck, Middle Neck Rd or "Town" as we called it. I recognize many of the stores. I'm a couple of years younger than you, Andy, but it was just like that.

geez, some of the older comments to this video are complete BS. i agree to what Commack08 said, this is like a time capsule. i really love this short film; it shows life for young people back in the day- comparing it to life for the young people of today, it isn't much different. i love the emotions conveyed in it, too. regardless of it not having the teens converse, you can just understand what they're talking about and how they feel. really interesting film. <3

@Commack08 It was different back then. Way different. It is a time capsule. Like who did anything like that back then. Like Daddy would let you use his 35mm movie camera, if you were lucky to have one.

@MLMusicBox What other street in Great Neck has all those shops??? Has to be Middle Neck Road. The line which divided the City from the Island.

yeah def had to be middle neck road, especially considering that it would have to be the most busy street in Great neck during the time, with other cross roads far less busy

This film was pretty lame until they busted out the groovy jams and started toking up. I couldn't really tell, but if the film was intended to be anti-drug they probably shouldn't have used such awesome tunes to capture the moment. Once they killed the annoying piano and started rockin' out it made me want to jump into the film and join them. Oh man... this island was probably an awesome place to grow up back then... it sure as hell isn't anymore.
