How to cook a pig, Hawaiian style. At our 4th annual pig roast, we shot some clips to show you how to cook a whole pig (ours was 180+ pounds) Hawaiian style - wrapped in banana leaves and buried in the ground. This was done at the Rosewood Manor in Edmonds Washington during the summer of 2010.

NOTE: Background music by the Jeff Greer Band.

  • Well done, but I found that a number of steps in this video are unnecessary for creating a sweet and tender Hawaiian roasted pig. For example, the pit doesn't need to be so deep, coals/stones don't need to be raked on each side of the pig, lava rocks aren't necessary (river rocks do well), hot dirty rocks don't need to be placed in the pig cavity (pineapples actually add sweet flavor), and you don't have to use so much firewood and burn for such a long time.
