Fifty five years ago, the voice of the Arabs or Sawt Al Arab radio was launched in Cairo, broadcasting the revolutionary ideology of Egypt's new leaders -- the Free Officers who had overthrown the monarchy.

Taking advantage of cheap transistor technology the Egyptian regime was able to get its message across the Arab World.
And by using a combination of emotional Arabist rhetoric and popular singers like Um Khalthoum, the voice of the Arabs emerged at a critical moment in the history of Arab unity.

  • Cut it out guys, 'Arab unity' is a myth; stale bread for the poor. Unity means one voice - that of the Dictator, but there are millions of people, and everybody wants something else from life. Democracy is not about 'unity', democracy is plurality - many voices, compensating acts. Democracy is pluralism; it's about forming coalitions and starting to negotiate, will and deal within the ‘rule of Law’, while everybody is under the law.

  • The problem with the Arabs is that for so long they have followed a failed 7th century order written by nomads and illiterate people (islam). Dont expect to see success flourish when this way of life is the centerpiece of culture.

This is why all there countries are the poorest and dont invent anything.

  • natural interest in arab unity without religion but building on comman language and culture wow thats why probably we muslim living in another part of the world don't look to the east with hope

  • Only the khilaafah can unite all the arabs and muslims all over the world and get rid of nationalism finally.

  • we r past arab unity invented by britts and christians. we r clear on Islam unity. on the way...

  • forcing religious values from above will only lead to a society which is religious on the outside...

    2) i think the americans are waiting for an islamic ummah. in the moment when you call for it they will use anxiety of islam to colonize our countries like in iraq.

democracy means the people rule. and this means the americans and all others are out of the game.

what they want is dictatores which are only like puppets

  • i am absolutely against islamic union allthough i take religion seriously.

    for three reasons:

    1) i think that only the person who has the freedom to choose if he wants to be religious or not can be truly religious.

like there is stated in the quran:

there is no compulsion in religion

i dont think islamic regime makes people more religious. look at the countries with islamic regime in the arab world: saudi arabia.

i would say one of the least religious countries.

their society is an empty shell

  • haha this video is diffending the arabic media , while arabic media is the one that is feeding the roote to the youngsters to fgget quran and whats happening around

  • Agreed. Right after the prophet died the divisions began. Im a muslim but it aint gonna work for worldly affairs. We have to use universal principles: Truth&Justice. With fairness being Justice. Equal opportunity. Not just for ppl. w/divine titles. Shukry of Syria said: half of the country is made up of leaders the other half prophets. Its the same for most of the Arab world. We need Allah to guard&guide our souls&conscience. We need a secular govt. to guide&guard our nation.

    peace.

  • ghadafi say the arabs have no contry .but also no leaders.ha ha ha ha ha
