  • get me some 30 wt ball bearings, some gause, and some anti-freeze. preferably prestone!

  • What makes Evans heads better??

  • Use lug lub! You don't want to use vasoline. It will dry out your rod. So use LUB! Then tighten it down with your fingers. I'm doing half a turn now.

  • You have made one of the better instructional videos..Thanks!. I was the guy who

spent all day tuning. There is a lot of truth in your statement that drums sometimes sound better a little out of tune than in tune. That's not easily explained..I was only a hobbyist. I don't fancy myself to be a teacher, but I have uploaded an old Lo-Fi tape: Alan Gatti Drum solos..It is an example of what is possible but not practical. Especially the second part..I hope my comments are

    not out of place here.

  • @LemmonPercussionTV ....and gauze pads. You should see my shoes...

  • @k0nik22 ... a regular "singing" drum tone, or a higher, sharp, "jazzier" tone. The reason for the "thump" is that when the head is loose and you hit it, the tension rises as it is hit, making it to resonate, but soon as it decays, it will fall out of tune again.

  • @k0nik22 I wouldnt say the same, but for me it is very important that they are in a certain pitch. If they are in the same pitch the drum sounds very low and has a very long decay time (if "the same pitch" is also in tune with the drum itself). What I do is, I first tune them to the same pitch, then tune the reso up until it does not dissonate, I think it's a fifth up. Now you have a sharper attack. Then by slightly raising or lowering batter, you can either get a "studio-ish" thump.....

  • Hi. Thanks for this video. I've played the drums for a long time and have never had tuning explained with as many little details included... tuning up, de-tuning when tuning up by pushing on head, configuring the pitch of the top to the pitch of the bottom and then fine tuning. all excellent points that other vids ignore!

  • @Anton041687 I think "gook" is a nickname the Americans had for the Vietnamese in the Vietnam war...I doubt that's what he means though haha.

  • buttom head and top head should be same tone/pitch??? pls reply,

    sorry 4 my english..^_^
