Mike Bloomberg refers to the film "Network" and I recommend you rent it and watch this movie. We may need to chant this at city hall to the mayor and city council.

The city council voting themselves a raise was a conflict of interest. Now that the economy has completely tanked I want to know and I continue to ask, is city council going to unvote themselves a raise. The mayor and the city council members that voted to extend term limits with out allowing the people of New Yorker to vote for themselves -- you are all included in the message...."I am mad as hell..."

That being said, I do agree with mayor Bloomberg's response today regarding the MTA.

I won't vote for him again but he is right to turn up the pressure on Gov. Paterson. The Gov. is another huge disappointment and has the people longing for Gov. Spitzer.

Gov. Paterson when...
"Asked if he had ever used campaign funds for hotel costs or other personal expenses, he said he never "knowingly" did so and agreed to release all pertinent records."

It always seems like Gov. Paterson is trying out for Saturday Night Live and he doesn't understand the depth of this economic crisis but most of all the scandals exposed including that he may have used campaign funds to pay for hotel rooms for adulterous affairs make ex-Gov. Spitzer look almost---saintly.

See subway at Union square leaking on sunny summer day and the pipes are bandaged. I wish you could see a map of property NYU owns and leases surrounded this subway and how many people are crammed in to the housing there as well as the office spaces and I do not believe the contribute a dime to improve the subway. Ditto Cooper Union who has done mass supersizing by the subway stations by the black cube that are rotted and leak as well.

  • Well I guess that's a matter of opinion but I do see what your saying. I remember that day cause I walked over the Williamsburgh bridge coming from my neighborhood and going to the city to look for work. Yeah, and they do have benefits that other people don't have which is just a shame. But on the same note, that doesn't happen all the time. but what does happen more is delay in service, waiting inside a train because of equipment failure, infrastructure repair etc.

  • Well I have to say one thing though, I am for unions striking especially if they feel that the contract that was written for them was unfair. However, I know that there are alot of MTA workers who have the worst fucking attitude when it comes to dealing with people and must say get paid really well. I am a security officer who works for high rise buildings and because I am not in any union I make very little money and have very little benifits so I know how important a union would be for me.

  • I'm not for the fare hikes ,but atleast if we saw major and dramatic changes in infastructure and service of the subway stations then I would say yeah you know then maybe we should pay just a bit more. But the subway service is the same as it was probably in the late 70's.

    1. They could put more benches in waiting areas.

    2. They could install cell phone hubs in underground stations so you can make or get a phonecall with your cell phone.

    3. Turn the subway map into touch lcd screen.

  • On rainy days the subway stations are like swamps. Grand street station is very overcrowded. A Hester street entrance, and exit should be added to relieve overcrowding. Subway stations should have tiles on the floors, and be mopped. that would make them cleaner, instead of the concrete floors. The power washing they do should be stopped. Floors should be mopped, and have tile floors.

  • Also why do Disabled/Seniors have to wait on line at a token booth, and most of the time, all they;re doing is handing the clerk a RETURN trip and then buzzed in.These people should have LINE PRIORITY.And many stations now, don't have a station agent that will issue these half-fare tickets, and a disabled/senior DOESN'T know this and labor themselves to get down the stairs to THAT station and then are directed to Cross a street where they DO have these services..this is CONTEMPTABLE!

  • ALL Politicians are CROOKS and the SHEEP they shear, are the same people P.T. Barnum was referring to.

  • The Govt'/Corporations don't Waste/Spend tax dollars..they Launder/Steal Tax Dollars...WAKE UP SHEEP!

  • Try "TURNSTILE TUESDAY"..where 100 people protest the MTA Stealing/Fare increases by "Jumping the Turnstiles" at times square and get processed into jail.

  • smart, and gorgeous :)
