Clich here 4 HQ version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPEJLTNrWF4&feature=channel_page&fmt=18

Not to be Confused with his early set of "Four Etudes",this Piece(which PRKF Dedicated to Horowitz)was originally written for the Ballet "The Prodigal Son"in 1928.Prokofiev later Adapted it for a set of "Six Transcriptions" for piano Solo(Op.52)in 1931.It is basically a Tarantella in 6/8 time, marked vivace.Prokofiev dearly loved the tarantella, and it is everywhere to be found in his music:the finale of the second sonata, the Third Sonata,(This),and the greatest thing(in my opinion)he ever wrote for solo piano(and of which this piece is a mini template for),the finale of the 8th sonata.Even the beginning of the 2nd Concerto is a Lyrical-Slow 12/8 Tarantella type statement. This was one of the composer's favorite works for his own recitals & concerts, and it appears on the only studio piano Lp he ever cut-"Prokofiev plays Prokofiev".Amazon has it.Hope you enjoy my "Amber-Olive theme-colored" Vid.harriter88(Terry Harrington)

    please record the entire suite!!!!

  • WOW! Do you realise you have more view than Prokofiev playing it?

  • I've always loved that piece, well played!
