@Scotty678966 Raziel refusing to kill kain with the Soul Reaver gave Kain the ability to save Raziel when he is about to go in the Reaver blade(the blade is before its the soul reaver) which in turns gives raziel to become the one who saves the vampires by purifying the scion of balance which in turns says they are both the Vampire and Hylden champions. Very Confusing but there it is.

That "scratch" is the scar from when Kain was killed as a human in Blood Omen. He was impaled by a sword.
The necromancer, Mortanius gave him the chance to avenge himself and kill his killers. Kain accepted and Mortanius gave him life again. Not as a man, but as a Vampire.
