RIM should have though of this first! - Epesode 1 - Bold Car Mount

This is my second attempt at a proper easy mount for my Bold. I did not like those slide and lock ones etc.. So I decided to build my own. I took a Sirius Sat Radio mount from a surplus store for $8.95 and a earth magnet $1 and some small washer I had on hand. I used a exacto knife to cut one of the holes larger to fit the earth magnet. A little crazy glue and it works great and my device comes right off with ease but not easy enough to come lose while driving. I do still need to find a covering for the magnet area so that it does not scratch my device and stop any rotation of the device going in circles.

wouldn't magnets affect the hardware and memory of the bold in any way?

No all the internal working of the device are solid state and are not effected my magnetic fields. I even brought up the engineering screens and test the antenna strengths with no change from removing the back and replacing in a few different places

Just so everyone knows I am trying to make another updated video because I now use 2 magnets and also have the non slip material on it and it works amazing.

Thanks for the feedback. Is the iPhone solid state or plater HDD cause if it is a HardDrive these magnets would for sure brick your iPhone.

This is so simple it's unbelievable! I just bought a Bold 9000 and am waiting for it to turn up - I love the RFID phone but my work would get pissed if I hacked my door card open :'(

Do you know if there's a similar mount for us bog trotters in the UK?
