Texas Tech vs. UT (2008): Students destroying bleachers and Premature field rush.

Texas Tech student section going nuts after the game winning touchdown, tearing up the bleachers and prematurely rushing the field with :01 second left. Its hard to make out, but when the video zoomed in there was a drunken student in a referee costume running around the UT players flailing his arms.

If you have ever been to Jones Stadium you would know that the students stand on the bleachers.

Those bleachers are 50 years old and so are the bolts and concrete that they are in.

Hot summers and cold winters cause them to rust and crack.Students jumping up and down cause them to break.

The protocol is to pass them to the back of the section so stadium personel can get them out of the way so nobody is injured

The first time this happened was the Texas game 2002.Its happend every game since

@buckynance I'll second what you said. I've been sitting (a.k.a. standing) in the student section many times when this happened. It wasn't maliciousness at all that the bleachers broke. They literally fell out from under us while standing on them. It's disappoints me that people are so quick to think the students are intentionally tearing things up.

I've been to a game where people rushed the field even though it was high school and ive been on the losing end as a player

@hustler1441 Texas Tech is quite a bit younger than UT or A&M, but we manage to hold our own against you. We're not declaring ourselves your betters, but we do manage to hang in there. You at least should give us that. The only thing Tech is actually BETTER at, is law. The Tech law school is one of the best in the country. I work with a few people who have law degrees from Austin, and they're extremely competent people. But overall, the quality of learning the law is better at the Tech School.
