They were definitely joking. Of course Steve can take the joke! They just made it deliberately awkward for Karl. You can tell by the way Ricky stumbles on his words that he is doing it intentionally.

Nope. They called him "Steve" (= short for "Stephen"), not "Steven". That's a difference, isn't it?

And anyway I think being called "Steven Merchant" in a YouTube comment is still better than being called "Stephen Mitchell" in a newspaper article. :D

In 11 pages only 2 people that I saw call him Stephen. Not mentioning that most of the people who uploaded this videos write "Steven" on the titles and descriptions, when many of this uploads have less then a year.

I think he is around enough time for people to get is name right.
