25 years ago Argentina triggered the last battle on British territory when it invaded the Falkland Islands. In this episode father-and-son presenters Peter and Dan Snow fly 8000 miles to the South Atlantic to tell the story of how the British Task Force fought back to regain control.

With his high-tech graphic mapcase, Peter shows the challenges faced by the British, thousands of miles from home or even friendly bases. Dan feels the force of the Sea Harrier fighter jets, so crucial to the survival of the British fleet in these icy waters. And he goes on a night-fighting training exercise under live fire to experience for himself the tactics used by the British ground troops in their fight to dislodge the Argentinians.

  • @FUNKYpenguin11: There was no need to phase it out. They could've just refitted the current ones and flown them off amphibious assault ships.

  • @FUNKYpenguin11 The harrier was an unreliable death trap, it had to be phased out.

  • @omegavalerius

Actually, in a recent documentary, the captain of the Belgrano admitted that the fleet had been given orders to engage. What did you think a cruiser was doing out there? Having a pleasure cruise? Idiot.

  • It looks like colonist Spanish vs British empire fighting for someone's land. Falklands is a British property by current situation and Argentina claim is illegal.

  • @omegavalerius Yes the heavily armed warship belgrano, and the argentinian carrier, had left port during war to engage in a sea bird counting exercise.

  • Stupid leader, before you mess with the enemy, do a freaking research on them.. HAHA total failure Argentinians LOL

  • The French decided to surrender....granted they weren't even in the battle, just surrender just in case
