Alice is right. Punk rock never started in the mid 70s. There was garage rock bands in the 50s & 60s playing raw basic rock music with protest lyrics. & Elvis Presley was wearing a black leather jacket 20 years before the Ramones did in 1975. Johnny Rotten has also said that Alice`s 1971 album Killer is the best rock album of all time. Yep, Alice was a big influence on the Sex Pistols. Johnny`s also said that him & Sid Vicious use to sing I Love The Dead while busking in England in the early 70s
@mikebealsrocks He does say he started doing gigs in '64, which means he probably started in high school. The first album came out in '68, which means he was probably doing gigs but didn't have a contract.
Aw this was a hard year for Alice, he got into a mental hospital for his alcoholic problems in 1977...:(

@mikebealsrocks He started in 1964, when they were called "The Earwigs", so if you count 1977, it's actually 14 years

In this interview, Alice SPECIFICALLY states the he's "been doing this for 14 years now".
If this was the case he should've started in 1963???
IMPOSSIBLE!!!
He started in 68, so add 14 years and you have an interview from 1982.
Do the math people.
