The media is effing retarded. The older form of Mass has nothing to do with "Latin." Any priest can say a Mass in Latin without the permission of a bishop. It has to do with the form, not the language, even though the Tridentine IS in Latin, Latin isn't what should define it.

... and, of course, permission to use the vernacular for readings preceded the Council, while Latin in N.O. Masses (and Chant, etc.) was always encouraged. By the Vatican, at least.
