  • The media is effing retarded. The older form of Mass has nothing to do with "Latin." Any priest can say a Mass in Latin without the permission of a bishop. It has to do with the form, not the language, even though the Tridentine IS in Latin, Latin isn't what should define it.

  • ... and, of course, permission to use the vernacular for readings preceded the Council, while Latin in N.O. Masses (and Chant, etc.) was always encouraged. By the Vatican, at least.

  • Yeah, they never talk about the priest having his back to God in the tabernacle during the Novus Ordo (if He's even present).

  • I like to respond with the "back to the people" remarks with a: "Well, that beats having his back to God.".

  • I swear, if I read or hear "backs to the people" or "a language most Catholics do not understand" one more time, I will break.
