A secretary I knew passed away a couple of weeks ago. She was a sweet older woman that everybody loved.

The night of the day I learned of her death I found myself noodling around on the piano, unable to focus on practice. This piece is the result of that night. It's not at all a sad piece - consider it a celebration of life.

Also, it's a very simple piece, so I did something special and recorded with 4 devices - my Zoom H1 for audio and 3 video recorders.

We all mourn in different ways - this was my way.

  • After hearing your Einaudi piece for the ABF recital, I think I hear in this some of the same simple but exquisite elegance that Nuvole Bianche has. I'd never heard of Einaudi before, but I loved your performance so much that I am adding that piece to the top of my list of pieces to learn.

  • @SirSardonic - I'm so glad you're liking Einaudi. He's a big favorite over at the ABF forum, and his works are fantastic. Learning his music has really allowed me to be more creative at the piano. I used to play the guitar before taking up piano, and it was nice to noodle around, strumming chords and making songs. With the simple Einaudi bass pattern, it's like strumming on the guitar again. But now I can make the melody with my right hand instead of trying to sing. Much better for everybody!

  • Think this is probably your best recording to date IMO. It's really interesting and creative, really nice melodies throughout. The personal nature of it has certainly contributed towards an emotional and connected performance. Hope you'll keep working on new stuff in the future :-)

  • @cgyan1 - Many heartfelt thanks for your nice comment! :) I've tried in the past, but I can never just create something when "I" want to. Creativity always seems comes to me through distraction and circumstance, and in this case it was really pushing from both sides. I was a little unsure about making public this piece, but your reassurance tells me this is how is was supposed to be for this case. Thank you!

  • Hey Ben - I'm a new member to the pianoforum & followed signature link. Then I found this. Man, I'm speechless. Congratulations. Two years of piano & you can come up with this stunningly beautiful, soothing and reassuring piece, made all the more special by how it came about. I'm actually glad that there is no sheet music for this. I'm not sure anyone else could possibly do it justice. I can't praise this one enough mate. Well done. I'm totally blown away. Keep up the good work. Skender.

  • @unSkender - thanks for the nice comment, it's truly appreciated!

  • I love this. You are terrific.

  • What a lovely tune and interesting video. Well done.

  • Keep noodling! You have a definite talent with composition. I agree with your interpretation; it sounds like a reflection of life - a tribute of sorts. Keep it up, dude!

  • @Darkboy2525 - thanks for the nice comment, my friend, you made my day! I really struggled with putting this on you tube, so I ran it by a friend and he said go for it. You tube is my outlet and my piano diary, so, this is where I was in August 2011 on the piano.
