This raw movie footage was taken by the Voyager 1 spacecraft as it raced towards Jupiter in February 1979. Clearly visible is the constantly changing attitude of Voyager's scan platform, which houses the narrow angle camera that took this particular sequence.

In total, 3531 frames were aligned to produce this film.

  • Lol. IDK why, but when I saw the moons orbiting I kind of freaked out.

  • I Really Like The Video From Your Clearly visible is the constantly changing attitude of Voyager's scan platform, which houses the narrow angle camera that took this particular sequence.

  • Is this speeded up because I know that jupiter doesnt spin that fast

  • Anyone not fascinated or at least interested in this needs their head examining.

  • @trotskydolan You must have mistaken my meaning. I don't assert that it is fake. I only said it looks fake to me. There is no reasonable doubt in my mind that this footage is real, and I'm quite aware of where the burden of proof would lie if I thought otherwise.

  • @wusundowma It moves fast because the pictures are taken in time lapse, one frame is captured every 30-40 minutes by my calculation. Why would you just assume something is fake without evidence? would it not be better to assume its real until there is reason to think otherwise? What has the author to gain by faking a movie of jupiter and pretending its real? To produce a fake of this quality would take some doing...

  • @bluesalinas Io (the inner most moon) orbits jupiter once every 42 hours, and by watching this it seem to do one orbit about every 4 rotations of jupiter which seems right.

  • @lazercannoncheck no it isnt

  • @Shine860530 this is a time lapse, one frame is taken every 30-40 minutes by the looks of it. Jupiter rotates once every 10 hours in reality.
